Manufacturer Quality Metrics

One of the hurdles most prospective motorhome buyers face is deciding which manufacturer they trust for a large purchase. It can be a daunting task to collect enough information to effectively evaluate each manufacturer as a prospective buyer.

At National Indoor RV Centers, we believe that transparency is important. Our goal is to get you on the road with your loved ones, making good, lasting memories. The best way we know to do that is to share our experiences of working with these manufacturers and the quality we've seen in their products. Below are ratings on these manufacturers using metrics collected during our many years of operation. Our hope is that we can help you better understand the product you are choosing to ensure that you are confident and comfortable with your purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

We hope to help set proper expectations for our buyers depending on the brand they buy. We believe that defects per unit can be used to compare the quality of the units produced by a certain manufacturer.

Absolutely not. Quality is just one dimension of a purchase decision. Other dimensions that are important to consider are features, aesthetics, warranty, total cost of ownership, etc. The relative importance of all these dimensions will be different for every person looking to buy a motorhome. NIRVC plans on releasing data about our experience with the various warranties and our history of how each brand devalues over time to help our buyers make more informed decisions based off of what is important to them.

The data is based on data produced with the units that NIRVC receives from the various manufacturers. Other dealers may have different experiences with the same manufacturers depending on manufacturer policies, delivery distance, unit aging, etc.

When calculating our metrics we select only new units delivered to customers within the selected timeframe you choose in the selector. Updated timeframes are added with the newest data every quarter and include 12 months’ worth of sold units.

We have no way of tabulating all the work required to get a unit ready to sell until the unit is sold.

We include the total number of new units that were sold during the specified time range. Due to the potential to really skew the averages, we only include a manufacturer in the data if we have sold more than four units in the selected time frame.

A minor defect is considered any defect that takes a half hour or less for a technician to repair. A medium defect is one that takes between half an hour and two hours to repair. A major defect is any defect that takes 2 hours or more to repair.

This is a measure of the total amount of technician time required to get a unit ready to deliver to a customer. Due to the nature of the source data, this metric does not include defects that were found but not repaired or defects that NIRVC repaired but was not reimbursed by the manufacturer. These defects will be included in our upcoming warranty ratings.

This data does not include repairs after the sale. Those repairs will be counted in our upcoming warranty ratings.

The information displayed on this page is specific to NIRVC. Other dealers may have different experiences with the same manufacturers.
